## The venue

A beautiful family-run wine estate surrounded by vineyards in the heart of Provence. At the end of a long avenue of century-old plane trees you’ll find a restored 19th-century stone farmhouse, gardens and open fields overlooking Mont Ventoux and the Dentelles de Montmirail.

We’ll celebrate surrounded by nature — the ceremony among the trees, drinks in the shade of the old plane trees and, as the sun goes down, dinner and dancing in the domaine’s beautifully renovated stone barn.

It’s exactly what we hoped for: a relaxed Provençal setting, good wine, long tables, warm summer evenings and plenty of time to celebrate together.

## Staying on in Provence

You are flying to Provence in June. It would be a waste to see only the inside of a barn, however good the barn is.

- **Before — Thursday and Friday:** Come down a day or two early and arrive rested rather than straight off a train. Friday is the easy one — a half-day route, an early dinner, and you are fresh for Saturday.
- **After — Monday onward:** Sunday belongs to the brunch, so the long routes start Monday. This is the window for Ventoux, for the coast, or for doing very little beside a pool.

### A relaxed afternoon — Sarrians → Beaumes-de-Venise → a vineyard

For anyone with half a day. Climb to the Castellas for the view over the Dentelles, then find a cellar door and work out whether you prefer the red or the Muscat.

### A Provence day — L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue → Gordes → Roussillon

The one to do if you only do one. Start early at the market on the water, drive up to Gordes for the view everyone photographs, then finish in the ochre cliffs at Roussillon.

### Extend the celebration — Vaison-la-Romaine → Malaucène → Mont Ventoux

For anyone staying on. Roman ruins and a medieval upper town at Vaison, then the climb every cyclist in Europe knows by heart. The summit is bare white rock and the view runs to the Alps.

## Gifts

Honestly, you being there is the gift. Getting the people we love into one field in Provence is the entire point of the day, and nobody needs to bring a thing.

If you would like to give something anyway: we are saving for a safari in Africa. The dream is the two of us in a jeep at sunrise, out looking for the big animals in the wild — elephants, lions, giraffes, the whole impossible lot of them. Any contribution towards that would be very warmly appreciated, and we promise to come back with far too many photographs to show you.

### What should we wear?

Formal chic for everyone — and ladies, the colourful half is aimed at you. We would love to look out at a room full of colour, so please be bold with it. Everything happens outside on gravel and grass, so pick shoes you can stand in all evening, and bring something for your shoulders once the sun drops.

### When should we get there?

Come any time from 16:00 — there will be a glass waiting and people you have not seen in far too long. The ceremony starts at 16:30, so if everyone is seated by 16:20 nobody has to tiptoe in.

### Is there transport to the domaine?

Not laid on by us, we are afraid — there is no shuttle and no taxi rank out among the vines, so please plan your own way there and back. Almost everyone will drive. If you have a spare seat, offer it around; if you need one, tell us and we will help you find it.

### Can we sleep at the domaine?

Sadly not — the estate is ours for the day only. We have gathered the places the owners love just up the road in the Stay section above, and the closest are only a few minutes away. Do book early if you can: it is a small village and we are a big group.

### What will the weather be doing?

June in the Vaucluse is generous — usually high twenties through the afternoon, and properly lovely once it cools off in the evening. The mistral does turn up without asking, so a light layer after dark is never wasted.

### Can we change our answer after sending it?

Of course — life happens. Send the form again with the same name any time before March 12, 2027 and we will go by the most recent answer we have from you.
